VIDEO: Breeks’ 12 days of Christmas countdown day nine

Grouchos legend Alastair ‘Breeks’ Brodie is taking us all the way to the big day with his 12 days of Christmas.

The vinyl connoisseur is playing us 12 classic festive tracks on twelve record players from his vast collection.

On the ninth day of our countdown Breeks is giving us Charles Brown’s ‘Merry Christmas Baby’ from 1956 played on a Dansette Conquest Auto from 1959.

Alastair said: “A re-issue of the 1956 song and it came out on an NME cassette some time in the 1980s.

Breeks said the Conquest is one of the larger Dansette models.

“It’s a beast of a thing. Great sound though.”
