Footage has emerged of a man believed to be behind a spate of vandalism targeting a Dundee shop.
Police are now analysing the video, which shows a man ripping down a CCTV camera from outside Cabar & Fiodh in the Nethergate.
Tim Ockenden, who runs the gentlemen’s store and gallery, faces a bill of hundreds of pounds after a series of attacks have damaged his CCTV system and Christmas lights since he opened the store six weeks ago.
The 25-year-old managed to snare the vandal after leaving a previously-damaged camera in place as bait.
He told The Courier: “It is awful to have it happen again. It is the same sort of incident, but this time we have got it on camera and the police are taking an interest.
“The last camera that was vandalised we left it in place to make it look like it was working, but we installed another camera to cover it.
“We’ve managed to get the footage of someone climbing up to damage the camera and, lo and behold, when I went out this morning the camera isn’t even there.
“It has been totally ripped off the wall and it is a metal bracket on the wall. It is not like you could just do that on a whim.”
Mr Ockenden said that his experience means that he now wants to start a community anti-vandalism initiative to help other victims.
“We hope it might come to the end now but regrettably I think it might only stop for a little bit,” he said.
“I’m meant to be closing for a few weeks over the Christmas period but I’m going to have to come in every day just to make sure the shop is alright.”
Mr Ockenden said that he believes the older man in the footage may be the same individual that approached him “shouting and screaming” while he spoke to a customer.
He said: “That was a good indication he wasn’t happy with the shop.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed that officers would review any private or public CCTV in connection with the incident.
