A pair of doctors at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee were feeling the cold this Christmas after having their heads shaved to raise money for the ARCHIE campaign.
Dr Paul Fettes and Dr Jason Hardy both had their heads shaved in a charity effort supported by their colleagues on Wednesday.
Dr Fettes said: “Quite a few people at work especially the paediatric anaesthetists are participating in Beards for Bairns.
“I thought it would be good to go for the all-over stubbly look and managed to con Jason into joining me in having our heads shorn at work.”
The pair auctioned off the privilege of holding the clippers and managed to raise more than £200, with donations still coming in online.
Dr Fettes said: “The highest bids were from the anaesthetic nurses, followed by the recovery nurses, followed by the children’s ward.”
Afterwards, Dr Fettes joked that the new look probably wasn’t what his wife wanted for Christmas.
The ARCHIE Foundation is the official charity of Tayside Children’s Hospital in Dundee which is trying to raising £2 million to deliver a world-class children’s operating theatre.
