A Dundee man has admitted using a fork to try to break in to a shop selling legal highs.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Christopher Rodger, of Ward Road, pleaded guilty to using the utensil to try to force a roller door and break into the premises occupied by Just The Thing, 84 Albert Street, Dundee, with intent to steal, on Thursday.
His co-accused, Nicholas Ovenstone, 34, of the Salvation Army Hostel, Ward Road, Dundee, who was alleged to have committed the offence on bail, having been granted bail on November 5 and November 17, pleaded not guilty to the same charge.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson told the court Rodger was spotted on CCTV walking near the shop before kneeling down at the door, where he was seen moving an object at the lock.
When a police officer attended the scene to question Rodger, he handed over the fork.
Sheriff Tom Hughes heard Rodger had been under the influence of legal highs at the time.
The 27-year-old was a former heroin addict who had managed to stay out of trouble since 2011, with his last appearance at a sheriff court in February that year.
Sheriff Hughes was also told Ovenstone was a former offshore worker who was made unemployed due to illness and redundancy, which then led him into drug addiction.
Ovenstone’s trial was set for January 29, with an intermediate diet on January 22. Rodger is due to be sentenced on January 22.
