Dunfermline boss John Potter looks set to raid League One title rivals Forfar for the services of experienced defender Jim Paterson.
The 35-year-old former Scotland Under 21 internationalist is understood to be on the verge of becoming Potter’s first signing as manager, and will help fill the coaching void left by the new Pars boss after making the step up from youth coach.
Potter has been taking the first team and the under 20s along with assistant Neil McCann after the departure of Jim Jefferies, but the offer of a coaching role and a return to full-time football has seen Paterson agree a deal at East End Park.
Forfar boss Dick Campbell commented: “Jim has the chance to join a full-time club and start doing some coaching so we cannot stand in his way.
“It will weaken us and strengthen Dunfermline – however I have plans to make up for that.”
Paterson began his career at Dundee United but moved on to have spells at Motherwell, Plymouth Argyle, Aberdeen, Shamrock Rovers and Bristol Rovers before making the switch to Station Park.
