Public urged to report motorists pushing the limit

The public should be prepared to inform the police if they are aware of motorists who are flouting the drink-drive laws, a councillor has said.
Alexander Stewart, convener of scrutiny on Perth and Kinross Council and a member of the community safety committee, warned drivers not to take risks over the holiday period or take the consequences.
“Police Scotland is coming down hard on drivers who are prepared to take the risk over the festive period and there will be an increased presence all over Perth and Kinross,” he said.
“The public should again demonstrate their continued support by informing the police about individuals they suspect to be under the influence of drink or drugs.
“With work parties and nights out in full swing, everyone should remember that their ability to drive legally the next morning might well be in serious doubt, especially now with the new reduced alcohol limit in Scotland, and my advice to them would be: don’t risk it, leave the car at home because not only is your driving licence at stake, you are also potentially risking the lives of others as well as your own.”
