Drivers warned to prepare for part two of Claypotts junction works

Traffic misery for drivers at the Claypotts junction could continue into the new year.

Improvement works at the traffic lights, which have led to tailbacks, are earmarked to last another four weeks.

Work on phase two at the junction will begin on January 12.

This is on top of the recent work at the lights that has caused traffic upheaval for motorists for the past four to five weeks.

The council has claimed to be doing “all they can” to minimise disruption during the roadworks at Claypotts, but news of the start of the next phase of work means disruption will continue well into the new year.

In the meantime traffic upheaval at the junction is continuing.

George Ferguson, chairman of Broughty Ferry Community Council, said disruption at the junction was as bad as ever on Tuesday when he had a look around 9am.

“There were obviously problems and delays at that time. I went back around 10am and the situation seemed a little better, so perhaps the temporary work to manually synchronise the traffic lights has helped.”
