A flood of complaints has prompted a new drive to put the brakes on speeding motorists near Montrose.
Councillor David May, above, took up the issue after North Craigo residents raised concerns over the rate of traffic entering the 40mph zone.
Mr May said: “Having had many complaints from several people in the area about the excessive speed of drivers through North Craigo, I met one of the residents and it was clear to me that many are travelling above the speed limit.
“Consequently, I made contact with the senior traffic officer and he readily agreed to carry out a speed check in the vicinity.
“The evidence from this has shown that many drivers did not keep to the speed limit. I have now been told that the police will provide additional enforcement.”
He said the council is also planning to remark the 40mph limit roundels as well as the ‘slow’ warning to drivers.
“All these measures should help to remind drivers about the need to keep to the speed limit,” said Mr May.
