Perthshire man ‘highly disappointed’ after being caught over the limit

A Perthshire man who was caught behind the wheel while more than three times the new legal drink-drive limit said he was “highly disappointed” in himself.

Cameron Farrow, 30, of Jubilee Place, Pitlochry, defended himself when he answered the charge.

He said he was “embarrassed” to appear in court as he relied on his car as a source of income for his family.

He admitted that on December 21 last year at West Moulin Road, Pitlochry, he drove with excess alcohol 76 mic. The limit introduced in December is 22 mic.

Depute fiscal Bill Kermode said: “Police were on patrol around 1.40am and decided to pull the accused over.

“He told officers he was on his way home after finishing work. The police smelt alcohol on his breath and noticed he was unsteady on his feet and had bloodshot eyes.

“A roadside breath test was positive and he was then taken to Perth police HQ where the 76 mic reading was given.”

Farrow told the court he needed his car to travel to and from work.

He told the court he had never “done anything like this” before.

“I am highly disappointed in myself,” he added.

Farrow was fined £1,000 and banned from driving for 22 months.
