The debt of gratitude owed by the Kinross-shire community to the T in the Park music festival has been revealed for the first time.
Over the past eight years bosses have contributed almost £400,000 to a wide range of local organisations and projects through the Kinross-shire Fund.
A further £300,000 has been awarded separately to a host of local, national and international causes during the event’s time at Balado.
DF Concerts has never sought publicity for its generosity but as it prepares to begin life in a new home at Strathallan, the managers of the fund have been moved to speak out.
It was set up in 2006 with the aim of making the county a better place to live in and has been guided by Foundation Scotland.
Grants have been awarded to more than 50 organisations, from pre-school groups to services targeted at the elderly.
Large awards have also helped with capital costs to improve community buildings and monuments.
Although T in the Park has now moved on, the fund remains open for business.
Fund chairman Jamie Montgomery said: “It is no exaggeration to say that the Kinross-shire Fund would be a shadow of what it is today without DF Concerts & Events. All of us involved with the fund owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude.”
Festival director Geoff Ellis said: “Part of our commitment to the community was to help enrich local opportunities and it was with great pleasure that we worked with Foundation Scotland and the Kinross-shire Fund to make donations to so many worthwhile causes and projects.
“In the future we hope to create similar opportunities for the communities surrounding our new site.”
