Inspections are being conducted at a derelict house in Leslie amid concern for safety.
The High Street house, which has been left to deteriorate for 30 years and has blighted the area, is the subject of a compulsory purchase order by the local authority, an order recently upheld by the Court of Session.
A villager warned The Courier that someone could be injured by a loose section of metal guttering.
The man, who did not wish to be named, said he had contacted Fife Council more than a fortnight ago but nothing had been done. He said: “If it comes down sharp end first, goodness knows what could happen if someone is underneath at the time.
“I’ve warned the local street sweeper so he can give it a wide berth.”
The council confirmed it was checking the building.
Service manager Neil Mitchell said: “We have been made aware of safety concerns at 222 High Street, Leslie, and are currently inspecting the building.
“If any part of the building is deemed unsafe for the general public we will make sure any necessary work is carried out.”
