Hamilton 2 Dundee United 3: Tangerines edge thriller
ByIan Roache
Dundee United threw away a two-goal lead on Monday night but still left Hamilton with the three points after an action-packed match against Accies.
An excellent strike from Stuart Armstrong on 38 minutes was fitting reward for some fine first-half play from the Tangerines then Gary Mackay-Steven made things look even more comfortable when he drove home a shot just 21 seconds after the break.
However, some erratic goalkeeping from Rado Cierzniak didn’t help as the visitors were pegged back, first by a free-kick from Jesus Garcia Tena then a snap-shot from Ali Crawford.
However, digging deep, the Tannadice men hit back on 78 minutes and captain Sean Dillon was the saviour, heading home a corner at the back post to secure a crucial win.
The result was vital as it took Jackie McNamara’s men back ahead of both Inverness Caley Thistle and Hamilton into third spot in the Premiership.
