Undeveloped land at Camperdown Leisure Park has been put on the market.
Vico Properties has put the land at the site on the market for offers of more than £2 million.
Frequently occupied by Travellers in recent years, the land had been earmarked for two 18-hole adventure golf courses, a garden centre, three restaurants and three leisure units.
Vico Properties submitted its original application in 2010 after a major stumbling block was removed when permission was given to demolish the B-listed former entrance hall of the Van Leer and NCR factory.
However, these plans fell through and the second stage of the leisure park’s development never materialised.
Further hope for the site came when Camperdown Country Park formed part of Dundee City Council’s bid to have the national performance centre for sport built in the city.
It was believed that this could have brought investment to the area and possibly have seen the land used.
Although the plans seemed promising at first, they were eventually beaten in the bid by Edinburgh.
Kevin Keenan leader of the Labour group on the city council, said he wished the council could have done something with the land and hoped the seller was still interested in the city.
“It’s a pity that the council can’t afford to improve the facilities available at the leisure park,” he said.
Council leader Ken Guild welcomed the sale of the land. He said: ““The fact that the owners have decided to put the land on the market shows they must be confident in getting a buyer, as well as in Dundee and its economy.”
