A video tour of Arbroath in the early 1980s is proving a smash hit online.
The video has been watched by tens of thousands of people of YouTube and Facebook since it was posted this weekend.
The footage was filmed by Wallace Ferrier and Bob Petrie and edited by George Park for the introduction to a wedding video they were making for Arbroath couple Derek and Alison McNulty.
The sights and sounds of Angus more than 30 years ago were brought back life in 2015 after Derek asked if the video could be transferred to DVD and the footage was uploaded to the internet.
“What happened was the three of us made the film as the introduction to a wedding video,” said Wallace.
“It was filmed in 1982 or 1983.
“Bob had a Honda Prelude with a sunroof and it was filmed by us taking turns sticking out the roof of the car.
“You can see the one-way streets going the opposite way and all the different shops.”
Some of the people who have watched the video have been able to see themselves or people they know in the video, while others have commented on the fashions of the day.
However, the thing most people are noticing is just how busy the streets were back in the 1980s leading to claims that the video proves the town has lost its way in the intervening years.
The trip down memory lane exists in two versions online.
The YouTube version of the clip, above, includes music and a brief comparison between Arbroath in 1982 and in 2013.
A second video on Facebook, below, has no soundtrack but has been watched more than 40,000 times.Post by Jac Stott.
