For over 250 years it’s been raining men, but now at long last it’s raining women.
Sort of.
It’s all about the ladies in Wednesday’s Courier as the first female members at the R&A golf club in St Andrews are confirmed.
Among them is none other than Princess Anne. Who famously described golf as “an arduous way to go for a walk”.
Sure she’s delighted all the same.
And that’s not the only St Andrews story rocking Wednesday’s Courier.
We also have news of plans for Scotland’s first ever booze-free student accommodation.
Astonishing stuff.
Will it catch on? We found out more, with the help of Dundee lead reporter and former St Andrews student Andrew Liddle who immediately recounted a hilarious tale involving a cricket ball and a wall. The latter came off rather better than the former.
Suffice to say he did NOT live in booze-free accommodation while enjoying his time among the dreamy spires of Fife’s most beautiful (arguably) town.
Meanwhile, the Courier’s cultural juggernaut (in the form of Caroline Lindsay) rolls into Liverpool on Wednesday.
Hot on the heels of her visit to Gateshead, she finds out more much more about how a downtrodden community was reinvigorated thanks to the construction of a muckle great waterfront museum (wait a minute…).
Closer to home, and we have all the latest on this bally change of speed limit on the Kingsway.
First they changed the limit but didn’t change the signs (from 50 to 40), then they put up the new signs, but failed to remove all the old ones. Tsk tsk.
It’s a shambles. To quote one commuter.
