For some of us, snow means nothing but fun.
But for those responsible for keeping our roads clear, it means hours of arduous work in teacherous conditions.
Perth and Kinross Council has posted this video online to show the effort that goes into keeping roads clear when there is heavy snow.
The video, which has already been viewed hundreds of times, shows the painstaking effort needed clear snow from the A93 so it remains passable.
Both Tayside Contracts and Perth and Kinross Council staff were involved in snow clearing operations this year during heavy snows this month and last.
Hundreds of motorists were stranded on the road at the end of January after heavy snows closed the snow gates at the Spittal of Glenshee and at Braemar.
A spokeswoman for Perth and Kinross Council said: “We wanted to give viewers a look at a day in the life of our roads team.
“As you can see from the video, the snowy conditions that the roads team regularly deals with during winter can be quite extreme.
“The A93 towards Glenshee, shown in the video, is particularly susceptible to deep snow drifts due to the geography of the steep mountainside. The team has to use snow blowers to move the deepest snow, before ploughing and gritting the road surface to make it safe to drive on.
“Keeping roads safe in our area is a priority for Perth and Kinross Council. Between October and March our roads team is available seven days a week, from 5am to 9pm, to clear roads and footways.
“In cases of widespread extreme weather, like the kind we experienced a few weeks ago, our roads team might even work through the night, and we can also call on a network of farmers across the area who are contracted to grit or plough agreed locations when needed.”
