An amateur film-maker is seeking the public’s help to complete a documentary about legendary Dundee record store Groucho’s.
Self-taught photographer and film-maker Greig Stott began has spent months working on the documentary about Groucho’s.
The Nethergate record store, owned by Alastair “Breeks” Brodie, was opened in 1976 and has grown into a Dundee institution.
Greig’s documentary will not only explore what the shop means to its customers but also discover how it has survived – and thrived – at a time when digital music downloads are becoming increasingly popular.
The shop has even been praised by legendary guitarist Johnny Marr as one of the UK’s two best record stores.

Greig is now hoping to crowd-source funds to complete his documentary.
He wrote: “This film is self f-ded by myself on an absolute micro-budget.
“It will get made and it will be completed – but with a little bit of help from people who care about Groucho’s and believe in me, this project and my capabilites, the tiniest of donations would really help and will go a long way into helping me complete this most exciting of projects.”
Anyone who contributes funds to the film will be given a credit at the end of the documentary.
Greig added: “I was already aware of how important Groucho’s is to many people, but it is an even bigger institution than I ever realised before, it really is a special place.
“It is more than just a record shop and that is what has come across when speaking to people.
“This is not just a story about Groucho’s, but a Dundee story, a tale of music and independent business – an inspiring story about a champion fighting against great odds to stand out from the crowd.”
