A groundbreaking website aimed at promoting Highland Perthshire has been launched after a year of development.

A total of 26 tourism businesses were involved in the creation of www.highlandperthshire.com, ensuring it meets the different criteria required by various sectors, such as hotels, retail and outdoor activities.

Highlights of the venture include a trip planner, customer feedback ratings, Google Maps searches and a comprehensive events calendar for the area.

The site can also be personalised by each business, as they can update their own content, links and image galleries, as well as promoting non-conflicting services.

James Rattray from Explore Scotland Ltd helped co-ordinate the project, as well as devise the concept of each firm working together.

He said, “If you think about it, a visitor who comes to the area will stay in a B&B, eat in a restaurant, visit an attraction and all of these are run and operated by different businesses.

“I wondered if it was possible to incorporate all this on to a central website, where each business can update what they have to offer, whenever they want.

“The central website feeds the information to other non-conflicting business websites throughout the area.

“We are used to businesses having link pages with static information about other non-conflicting businesses in the area, this new Highland Perthshire web portal takes this to another level, as it carries information that is bang up-to-date and put there directly by the business themselves.

“The final website specification is the result of input from all 26 development businesses.”

Tourism firms from across Highland Perthshire have been invited to attend a number of demonstration sessions that will explain the new web portal and how it works.

Any businesses interested in attending any of the sessions should call 01796 473335 or email james@explorescotland.net.
