Tributes have been paid to a “fantastic mum and great friend” who died following a road accident in Dundee.
Friends and colleagues from accountancy firm Four M paid their respects to 44-year-old Linda Crosbie, who suffered serious head injuries when she was involved in an accident with a car as she tried to cross the city’s Riverside Drive in the early hours of Sunday.
The Monifieth woman who leaves behind children Leigh (16) and Aidan (6) had been attending the wedding of two workmates at Kilconquhar Castle Estate in Fife on Saturday.
Despite the efforts of a trauma team and paramedics, Linda later died, surrounded by her family, at Ninewells Hospital.
She and the rest of the party had just been dropped off by a coach at Discovery Quay when the accident took place.
It is understood that Linda and a number of others had been using the pedestrian crossing near the station as they attempted to find a taxi to take them home.
Thirty-eight-year-old Barrie Alexander, from the Ballumbie area of the city, also suffered serious spinal and skull injuries in the collision but doctors are hopeful he will make a full recovery.DevastatedHis wife Elaine, who worked alongside Linda, said, “She was a fantastic mum and a great friend to everyone in work and out of work. Barrie is devastated, too. It had been a fantastic evening we had the best night up to that point.”
Linda’s family were said to be distraught at their loss.
Four M company partner John McLaren said he and his colleagues were devastated at the untimely death of a well-liked and well-respected member of staff, who had been with the Broughty Ferry Road company for nine years.
He said, “The whole office was at the wedding. Not only is it tragic but a number of the people here were actually there and saw it happen.
“Linda was a very able and capable accountant who was well liked by the staff and by her clients. What has happened is just a tragedy.”Floral tributesFloral tributes to the mum of two have been laid at the scene of the accident.
Mr Alexander also an accountant, based in Aberdeen is making good progress in hospital.
“I was just a few steps ahead of my husband with another colleague,” Mrs Alexander said.
“The next thing I knew there’s just chaos behind me I didn’t realise that Barrie had been hit at first.”
Chief Inspector Sandy Bowman, head of Tayside’s road policing unit, said the investigation was continuing and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
He said the blue Honda Civic involved in the accident and a number of other vehicles had been in West Marketgait prior to the incident and had travelled to the Riverside roundabout before turning into Riverside Drive.
The crash investigation is continuing.
