UPDATE: Body found in Caird Park confirmed as Dundee man Derek Dignan

Police have confirmed that a body found during a search of Caird Park was that of missing Dundee man Derek Dignan.

Police launched their search for Mr Dignan on Tuesday evening, and cordoned off the park.

Officers found the body of a man in the grounds of the park on Wednesday afternoon, and he was later identified.

Mr Dignan, who was 49, lived in the city’s Provost Road.

A police spokesman said there are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
