A horse caused havoc when it escaped on to the A92 in Fife on Sunday.
It is understood the animal had thrown its rider and bolted before galloping up the carriageway against the flow of traffic, near Parbroath crossroads, shortly after 11am.
One witness told The Courier, “When I met it, it was travelling on the wrong side of the road.”
Despite reports of the horse colliding with several cars, it is believed to have been unharmed after its ordeal. It was later checked over by a vet.
A police spokeswoman said the rider was uninjured and the horse was captured and returned to a nearby field.
