A former member of pipe bands in Dundee, Bill Sharpe, has died at his home in Australia where he emigrated 47 years ago.
Mr Sharpe (78) belonged to the McLeod, Bullionfield and NCR bands in Dundee. He grew up in Lochee and worked as a turner at the Blackness Foundry and later at NCR.
He and his wife Nessie emigrated with their three daughters to find a better life. They eventually made their home in Brisbane and had a fourth daughter.
He found work in the engineering trade and also maintained his love of piping through joining the Queensland Irish band.
He returned to Scotland on a number of occasions, often combining his participation in pipe band events with visits to his relatives and friends in the Dundee area.
The Sharpes have nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
