Canon Ian Mullen, a retired priest of the Diocese of Dunkeld, has died at his home in Dundee at the age of 57.
A native of the city, he attended St Clement’s Primary School before beginning his studies for the priesthood at St Vincent’s College in Langbank, Renfrewshire.
He continued his education at Blairs College, Aberdeen, then the national junior seminary, and the Royal Scots College at Valladolid in Spain.
Canon Mullen was ordained in July, 1978, in St Andrew’s Cathedral, Dundee, and his first appointment was assistant priest at St Pius X in Douglas.
He became priest of St Stephen’s, Blairgowrie, in 2005, also serving St Mary’s in Coupar Angus and St Luan’s in Alyth.
He is survived by his mother Betty, brother Charlie, sister-in-law Helen and nieces Gillian, Claire and Louise.
