The owner of Arbroath’s Westway Retail Park is hoping to attract funfairs to the site.
Carswell Properties Limited has been granted a public entertainment licence by Angus Council which will allow the firm to operate a fairground and erect temporary marquees and stands for 28 days a year.
Attractions would come to the half-acre site, between KFC and B&Q, which has a capacity for 200 people. The licence, granted by the council’s civic licensing committee, lasts for one year.
The property firm has also been granted permission to develop a playpark next to McDonald’s on a grass corner site. Five fixed pieces of play equipment on rubberised play surfaces could be placed on the 927 sq m site.
The type of play equipment to be installed has not been decided at the playpark, which would have a capacity for 100 people.
Permission has also been granted for a 13ft LED sign in the corner of the playpark site to carry illuminated adverts for businesses on the site.
