A Scottish footballer is facing trial later this year for allegedly carrying out an attack on his former partner just days before Christmas.
Dunfermline player Craig Reid, 30, is accused of assaulting Natasha Munro at his flat in the New Gorbals area of Glasgow on December 21, 2014.
Papers from Glasgow Sheriff Court claim that he did “struggle violently with her, strike her on the head, seize her by her hair, pull her hair, punch her on the body”.
It is also claimed he grabbed and pulled her by the clothing, “causing said clothing to compress her neck” and that he hit her on the head with an object, to her injury.
Reid denies the charge and appeared at the court yesterday for trial, represented by advocate Tony Graham.
Sheriff Neil Mackinnon granted a Crown motion to adjourn the trial and a new date was set for August this year.
Reid, originally from Ardrossan, plays for Dunfermline Athletic after signing for the team in February this year.
He started his career as a youth player with Celtic and has also played for Motherwell and St Mirren.
