ByThe Courier Reporter
An incident that saw a 40-year-old Dundee man engulfed in a fireball on a Dundee street is not being treated as suspicious by police.
The man, who suffered serious burns to his face, hands and body, is still in a critical but stable condition, it is believed.
No one has been charged in connection with the incident, which took place on Laird Street on Friday and saw the man lying on the ground beside a car and a petrol cannister.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that following an incident in Laird Street, Dundee at about 6pm on Friday, April 8, a 40-year-old man was taken to Ninewells Hospital with serious burn injuries.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue said they were called to the bottom part of Laird Street shortly before 6pm after reports of a car on fire.
They said the vehicle had been extinguished before their arrival.
