ByGraham Brown
A 41-year-old man has appeared in court on a Montrose murder bid charge.
Paul William Halliday made a private appearance from custody at Forfar Sheriff Court this afternoon on a petition alleging assault to severe injury and attempted murder.
His arrest followed an incident in the Angus town on Sunday night which led to a 26-year-old male being taken to hospital with a neck injury.
An area around Lower Hall Street and Strathmore Place was cordoned off by police during Sunday night and into Monday as part of the investigation.
Halliday, from Montrose, made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination.
Sheriff Pino Di Emidio remanded the accused in custody and Halliday is expected to make a further court appearance next week.
