Forfar’s assistant manager Ian Campbell reckons that last Saturday’s 3-1 win over Peterhead was a terrific boost ahead of facing Airdrie live on TV tonight.
The second-placed Loons meet the seventh-placed Diamonds at the Excelsior Stadium, with the game – which has a 5.30pm kick-off – being broadcast by BBC Alba.
With so much at stake in one of the closest title races in years, Campbell is delighted that the Station Park men are going into today’s fixture with a spring in their step.
Campbell said: “Everyone was a bit disappointed when we lost to Morton at home a couple of weeks ago but the performance and result against Peterhead was terrific.
“You could say that the way we played has given us our mojo back and training this week has been first class.”
“We are heading to Airdrie having had a real boost and having the game live on TV has given everyone an extra lift.”
Campbell reckons that Forfar will need to play just as well as they did against the Blue Toon to see off Gary Bollan’s side.
“Airdrie are a tough side and I am surprised where they are sitting in the table,” he continued.
“Every time we play them we have to dig deep to get anything and I am sure they will finish the season higher than seventh.
“They are a well organised group and have a good work ethic so we will need to play well to win.
“We sneaked away from their place with a win earlier in the season and had to battle to get a draw at Station Park.
“I do not expect anything other than having to dig deep to get anything from this game either.”
Fit again striker Dale Hilson could start, although defender Mark Baxter remains out injured.
The Loons were last night looking to extend the loan of full-back Iain Campbell from Cowdenbeath ahead in order that he can play in this one.
