The £12,000 Cervelo R5 CA racing bike was the centrepiece of a new display at Nicholson’s Cycles on Mains Loan. The shop is now selling Cervelo bikes as well as a new range of cycling clothing by Pearl Izumi. However, the most eye-catching item on display was the bespoke bike. Sales manager Colin Murray said, “The one we had on display retails for about £12,000, or £7500 for the frame and forks. “It’s a racing bike and, at that kind of level, cyclists don’t buy the frames themselves. “The frames are hand-made and they only make one a day so, although there are shops that sell them, they are expensive. “There are about nine bikes in their whole range and prices start at £1500 upwards.”
