THE Scottish newspaper wholesaler and logistics group Menzies Distribution is drawing on its London Olympics experience as it plans to keep deliveries moving during this year’s Commonwealth Games.
The firm said it expected that up to 600 of its regular west coast customers would be affected by congestion problems arising from the sporting spectacle, which begins on July 23.
The Edinburgh-based group said it was setting up a Commonwealth control centre to oversee operations during the 11-days of the games.
Planner Grant Keogh said: “It’s all about preparation when it comes to the games, as we know first-hand from our experience at the London Olympics.
“We are putting the lessons we learned then into practice now, as we aim to manage deliveries on time to retailers during the games this summer,” he added.
