A much-loved family cat has been shot and killed in Carnoustie.
The seven-year-old female tabby cat was fatally wounded by a thug who appears to have used an air rifle.
The horrific discovery was made on Saturday at 1pm when the cat’s body was found by her worried owner.
The cat was found on a grassy embankment on the south side of Barry Buddon Burn near to the footpath that runs alongside houses on Macdonald Smith Drive – a short distance from home.
Its concerned owners had been looking for it on Thursday and Friday.
SSPCA officials later discovered an air gun pellet lodged in the beloved pet.
Police Scotland have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and would appeal to any who has information that could assist their investigation to call them on 101, or speak to any officer.
