ByThe Courier Reporter
Award-winning Carnoustie piper Craig Weir will be the ‘lone piper’ representing Scotland’s Black Watch Regiment at a ceremony this weekend.
Craig, 20, will take part in the event which will launch the European programme of events to commemorate the centenary of the First World War in Belgium.
He will be accompanied in Passchendaele by members of The Black Watch, led by Major Ronnie Proctor, Provost Helen Oswald of Angus and the Lord Provost of Dundee, Bob Duncan.
Craig said: “It’s a great honour for me personally and I am sure it will be a moving experience. Being asked to be ‘lone piper’ is a big responsibility and I am a bit nervous.”
