Hanna Whyte, of Fettercairn, was given just weeks to live when she was diagnosed with choroid plexus carcinoma two months ago. She had already had a successful operation to remove one of her tumours but her condition remained terminal. Hanna, who needed a range of treatments and drugs, including morphine and oxygen, was being cared for at home by her parents, Angela and Billy. The teenager was struck down by the same illness which killed her brother, Corrie Whyte, 13 years ago when he was just 23 months old. Hanna’s 12-year-old sister Samantha will also have to undergo tests to see if she is at risk of developing the condition. The cancer, choroid plexus carcinoma, is a type of brain tumour which can spread rapidly and is very rare in adults.
