The replacement for Newsnight Scotland appears to have turned viewers off.
Viewing figures for new current affairs offering, Scotland 2014, were as low as 22,000 last week.
Fronted by former Channel 4 News broadcaster Sarah Smith, the nightly news programme was heralded as a guide to “how Scotland impacts on national and global events and how national and global events impact on Scotland”.
However, it seems the fresh format has failed to capture the public’s imagination since its February launch.
On Tuesday the inaugural edition of the show saw 89,000 viewers tune in.
That dropped to just 53,000 on Wednesday and 22,000 on Thursday.
Critics on social media have accused the BBC of “dumbing down”, with some calling for the return of “Newsnicht”.
