The man was attacked near the Co-op store on Dundee Road.
Police are investigating after a man was assaulted in Forfar.
The 32-year-old was in Dundee Road near to the Co-op at 5am on Tuesday morning when he was approached by man who got out from the passenger side of a blue-coloured Subaru car.
He spoke briefly to the victim before knocking him to the ground assaulting him.
The suspect then made off in the car.
The man suffered facial injuries and was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment and later allowed away.
The suspect is described as being six foot two inches tall and of stocky build.
