A dog trained to sniff out tobacco has arrived in Dundee. Dixie will be spending a week helping council trading standards officers to track down illegal traders. Councillor Vari McDonald said: “I’m happy to welcome Dixie to Dundee and I’m sure her work will be valued. “Specially trained sniffer dogs are an important tool in the fight against the illicit tobacco trade. “People in Dundee should only buy tobacco from registered sellers to help tackle any illegal activity.” Dixie has been trained by Stirling Council and recently detected illegal tobacco during a two-day operation in Aberdeenshire.
