Bathed in sunshine, Perth took on a carnival atmosphere as Swiss football fans made themselves heard before Luzern took on St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
Happily mixing with local fans in pubs before the game, the hundreds of supporters who had come over to Scotland provided a colourful spectacle, walking from the city centre to McDiarmid Park playing drums and waving banners.
With St Johnstone narrowly winning through after a nail-biting penalty shoot-out, both sets of fans headed for the city centre.
They partied through until the early hours of today with St Johnstone fans again living up to their reputation as friendly hosts for rival fans.
“It was a great atmosphere the guys from Switzerland really seemed to enjoy themselves, despite the result,” said Ian Forbes (27).
One minor incident is being investigated by police. At around 11pm on Crieff Road near to the footpath to Strathtay Road a Swiss fan was allegedly assaulted, but uninjured.
