Serial sex offender hounded out of Perth community
ByKirsty McIntosh
A violent serial sex offender has been moved to a secret location after residents discovered he was living in the middle of a Perth community full of families.
Martin Jones, 30, was jailed for 18 months in 2009 for stalking a 12-year-old through Perth city centre. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
That followed previous convictions for indecent assaults on young girls in 2002 and 2007.
A five-year sexual offences prevention order, which banned him from being alone or at a play park with anyone under the age of 17, came to an end earlier this year.
Until recently Jones was living in Potterhill Gardens but he has now been moved to a temporary accommodation “for his own safety” after horrified residents uncovered his identity.
In Saturday’s Courier, we hear from horrified locals and a councillor who says the public were let down by the system.
