Cowdenbeath v Falkirk: Cowden home in on decent start

Cowdenbeath boss Jimmy Nicholl is determined that his side continue to keep Central Park as a stronghold as they start their Championship season with the visit of Falkirk.

Nicholl said: “Falkirk were the last team to win here back in January and we want that unbeaten record to continue.

“Doing so well at home helped us stay up via the play-offs and we want Central Park to be seen as a really tough place to come from here on in.”

“Facing up to Falkirk is a tough start, however there are not many games this season where you will be able to say anything different.

“Having worked so hard to be in this league this season it is important that we make the right start and take something from this game.

“In fact three out of our first four games are at home and if we remain undefeated after them then we will have made a very decent start to the season.”

New signing Slovenian striker Danijel Jurisic may have to be patient before getting a crack at the Bairns.

Nicholl said: “Even when we were losing to Clyde at half-time last weekend I told the boys I could not be critical of them and if they kept playing like they were then goals would come.

“That is what happened and I was delighted with the performance as we came back to win 2-1.

“We scored two very good goals with both Sean Higgins and Lewis Milne playing really well and attacking with a lot of pace.

“I want that approach to continue so I am not planning too many changes.”

The Blue Brazil have doubts over Kenny Adamson and Sammy Stewart, who both picked up knocks in the game with Clyde.

Falkirk are without Kieran Duffie, who has a foot injury, and Craig Sibbald who has a knee problem. Thomas Grant again misses out as he continues his recovery after illness.
