East Fife manager Gary Naysmith was disappointed with his side’s performance as they lost 1-0 against Elgin City in a close game at Borough Briggs.
Naysmith said: “We created the chances but the disappointing thing was that for the last 30 minutes we lost our way and got drawn into playing the sort of game that Elgin wanted.
“In the first half we kept our composure and were disciplined but in the second half we were the complete opposite after the first 10 minutes.
“It’s not good enough, I have told them that if they start playing like individuals and not for the team then they won’t be playing because that’s what cost us.”
Naysmith’s side created the most chances in the first half but couldn’t break through the Elgin defence.
John McShane almost gave East Fife the lead from a free-kick on the half-hour mark but his effort was tipped wide by Michael Fraser.
The hosts came out stronger in the second half, with Daniel Moore testing keeper Alan Fleming within five minutes.
East Fife substitute Nathan Austin came close after latching on to the end of a cross from Alan Cook. His header beat keeper Michael Fraser but landed just wide of the post.
The deadlock was broken three minutes later as Marvin Andrews fired a long ball from the half-way line into the danger area which landed at Craig Gunn.
The striker made no mistake in calmly slotting past Alan Fleming from close range.
