Consultation on contentious plans to change the way bins are collected from Dundee homes will start later this month.
Dundee City Council is proposing to cut its normal wheelie bin collections from weekly to fortnightly, while increasing the frequency of other collections for items like glass and food in a bid to improve recycling rates.
The council administration gave the green light to the changes earlier this year and vowed to consult with residents.
Environment convener Craig Melville will help present the case for the new recycling scheme to Local Community Planning Partnerships (LCPPs) across the city.
Mr Melville said: “Environment department officers will be giving the presentation which will run through the reasons as to why we have to do this.
“There are representatives of the different community groups who attend LCPPs.
“It’s a chance for folk to impact exactly what they would like to see in their area, based on what options we would have.”
Mr Melville hopes people will use the chance to make their views known at the meetings which take place between August 19 and 27.
The council hopes the first phases of the new scheme will be rolled out by the new year.
It will see new weekly food waste collections and new ways of collecting paper, glass and plastics.
