£630 fine for Dundee man who was ‘clobbered’ for sectarian abuse on train

A Dundee man made a train ride from Glasgow the journey from hell when he spent an hour verbally abusing fellow passengers.
Barry Gray directed sectarian abuse at football fans returning from a match between Celtic and Aberdeen.
Perth Sheriff Court heard the abuse began moments after he set foot on the train and continued until it arrived at Perth station.
It was there his victims finally snapped, forcing staff to intervene as a brawl broke out on the platform.
Depute fiscal Lisa Marshall said Gray was “clobbered” in the altercation.
At court on Friday, Gray, 41, of Aboyne Avenue, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner on the First ScotRail service between Glasgow Queen Street and Perth on March 16 last year.
He repeatedly swore and uttered “foul and abusive language of religious hatred”, before engaging in “a stand-up fight”.
Gray was fined £630.
