Forfar will aim to oust Ayr United from the top of League One when the divison’s in-form duo meet at Somerset Park.
The Loons raised several eyebrows last weekend with their 2-0 win over promotion favourites Dunfermline at Station Park, the goals coming from Dale Hilson and Darren Dods.
At the same time the Honest Men were making it two league wins out of two thanks to a 3-1 victory away to Stirling Albion.
So something has to give this afternoon when the league leaders meet the second placed side.
Forfar boss Dick Campbell has taken note of Ayr’s 100% start but he is backing his players to keep their own terrific form going.
“I am not surprised Ayr are up there because they have loads of good players like Ryan Donnelly and John Paul McGovern,” said Campbell.
“However, I am not worried about how well they have been going because we have been doing not too badly ourselves.
“So we will go down there looking to continue that.”
Key man Hilson was a doubt in the immediate aftermath of the Pars match but the knock he picked up duringthat game is not as bad as first feared and he should be available to take on Mark Roberts’ men.
Forfar know what it takes to win down in Ayrshire, having triumphed 3-2 in a thriller back in March.
