Renfrewshire chief to lead Dundee City Council from December

Dundee City Council has announced David Martin will replace David Dorward as its chief executive in December.
Mr Martin, the chief executive of Renfrewshire Council, will take over from Mr Dorward when he retires after five years at the helm.
Council leader Ken Guild, who chaired the appointment sub committee, said: “This is a particularly exciting time for Dundee and its people and I am confident that David Martin will be a capable and enthusiastic chief executive of the council who will help to guide us through increased demand for our services within tight budgets.”
Mr Martin has been chief executive of Renfrewshire Council since 2006 and has previously held senior posts at Fife and Stirling councils.
In 1984 he started his career in the Highlands and Islands Development Board after leaving university with a BSc (Hons) in geography.
Mr Martin also has a Masters degree in town planning.
He said: “Dundee is a great city and I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with councillors, employees and our partners to ensure the best service for people and communities.”
