A shop worker has been fined £200 following a drunken argument on a train from Dundee to Perth.
Gavin Megahy, 31, of Mansfield Court, Scone, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing and fighting with Laura Stirton at Dundee rail station and on the train on August 24.
He had boarded the train with Ms Stirton.
Her not guilty plea to the same charge was accepted by the Crown.
Depute fiscal Rebecca Kynaston told Perth Sheriff Court that the pair had been enjoying an evening out prior to the incident.
She said: “They went back to Dundee rail station and intended to get a train there at 11.30pm.
“At the station the accused began shouting and swearing at Ms Stirton.
“The First ScotRail service arrived at 11.49pm and the accused and Ms Stirton were in a coach. Shouting and swearing was heard from the accused.”
She said the pair had been arrested at Perth.
Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said Megahy began arguing with Ms Stirton after she went ahead of him to the train station and he became concerned for her safety.
He added that both parties were heavily intoxicated at the time.
