A teenager has been jailed after stabbing a man with a pair of scissors in an “unprovoked” attack.
Jordan Henderson had earlier admitted attacking David Wall on April 21 this year.
Perth Sheriff Court heard 19-year-old repeatedly punched and stabbed his victim with scissors at The Mall in Montrose.
Solicitor Nick Markowski said Henderson had consumed alcohol and so-called legal highs Gocaine and Cyclone, which had been bought from a shop in Arbroath.
He said his client had been in care from the age of 12 and has a history of psychiatric illness, including ADHD and depression.
He added: “He asked me to apologise to the complainer in this public arena. Fortunately for Mr Henderson the injuries were of a minor nature.”
Sheriff Kenneth McGowan told Henderson, a prisoner at Polmont, that he was extremely lucky his victim had not been more seriously injured.
He noted that despite his age Henderson had a “significant” record, including convictions for assault.
He added: “The report indicates that you are at high risk of reoffending.”
He told Henderson he had no option but to impose a custodial sentence and detained him for 16 months, with a condition that he be supervised for a further eight months after his release.
