A disabled driver with a valid concessionary badge was given a parking ticket outside Dens Park, despite being told by a police officer it would be safe to leave his car.
Bill McRitchie of Liff, left Dens after watching Dundee FC draw 1-1 with Partick Thistle on August 16, only to find his and several other cars had been ticketed.
Bill, 63, had gone to the match with his son, who was driving, and was dropped off near the entrance to the Bob Shankly stand as he struggles to walk any distance.
His son then asked a police officer where he could park the car and was shown to a spot opposite the main entrance, which had police no parking cones along the pavement.
Bill said: “We saw the policeman and he was great, he apologised and gave us his name and badge number and said it was his fault.
“He said: ‘My understanding is that as I told you to park there, it’ll be OK if you appeal the ticket’.
“But I appealed it and the council sent it back saying that as there were police cones out on the street, I should not have parked there and the warden was correct to issue it.
“They also said that since 2004 the police have no jurisdiction and the city council control all parking in the city.”
A council spokesman said: “If the fixed penalty notice has not been paid then we would urge Mr McRitchie to wait until he is sent the review notification in the post which allows him to make formal representation to the council.
“Anyone who is directed to park in a particular place by a police officer should take a note of the officer’s badge number in case it is needed for verification at a later time.”
