North east marine survival specialist SCI targets Scandinavia

North east based Survival Craft Inspectorate yesterday has turned its attentions to Scandinavia as it seeks to build its European business.
The firm, a provider of emergency marine evacuation systems and training courses, said it had appointed Danish distributors Hysafe and Hytek, both part of the wider Hytek Group, to sell and install its lifeboat release and retrieval systems to the marine market in the region.
The company already has similar agreements in place in Holland, Belgium, Germany and Greece and its global operations extend to Australasia and North America.
The firm also has a strong presence in its home market and last year moved to take over Stonehaven’s abandoned maritime rescue unit in order to establish a new survival training academy capable of providing courses for 5,000 students per year.
SCI’s Jos Lems said the firm – which has a 180-strong workforce – was delighted to have agreed the new partnerships.
He said: “We’re confident these latest agreements will play a key role in ensuring we achieve our growth plans for the region.”
