Tayside police probe after disabled man mocked in officers’ emails
ByAndrew Liddle
A disabled man has been mocked by Tayside police officers in a secret email exchange which has been obtained by The Courier.
The division has launched an internal investigation into the messages, sent between their equalities and diversity officer and another force member.
The pair mock the need for disability rights campaigner Andrew Kirk to have emails sent in large type because of his visual impairment.
In one of the messages, Inspector Mark Duncan brands Mr Kirk, who was contacting police to receive information on hate crime, as “that potentially difficult guy that needs type in large font”.
Nasreen Mohammed, Tayside Division’s equalities and diversity officer, responds by saying “pleased to note he (Mr Kirk) has stopped asking for me!!!”
Police Scotland confirmed the matter will be investigated.
