Allison McArthur is getting ready to take part in Cycletta Scotland.

A Perth fundraiser is swapping running shoes for a bicycle for her latest challenge.

Allison McArthur has signed up to take part in this year’s Cycletta Scotland, which returns to Scone Palace Sunday October 5.

Normally a runner, Allison picked up an injury during her 2014 Macmillan Fundraising Challenge, which she is doing with her husband, Steve Bonthrone, so she has dusted off her bike to maintain her fitness levels and to keep up her commitment to the charity.

Together the couple hope to raise £10,000 for Macmillan this year and are already well on their way to hitting that target.

Also taking part in the event is Team Scotland cyclist Charline Joiner, from Dunfermline.

Charline won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Dehli and is now setting her sights on making the team for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

This year women can sign up for 20km, 40km and 70km routes, as well as a newly-introduced 100km course, for the more serious cyclists, who are looking for a tougher challenge.
